2009 Antigal Uno Malbec

Well finally! After a long wait and tons of requests from my Argentine friends, here it is… On the tasting table today is the 2009
Antigal Uno Malbec from Argentina. The bottle is very eye catching and industrial looking which is what got my attention.
The color is a vivid red with violet hues.
The nose gives you hints of chocolate, dark berries, unripe cherries and roses.
On the palate there are flavors of unripe cherries, ripe plums, blackberries, chocolate and leather.
The finish is medium high with soft tannins. A very drinkable wine in my opinion. Easy enough to have without food and has only 13.8 percent alcohol unlike other more robust Malbecs.
I paired it with an Argentine churrasco steak and chimichurri sauce with a side of mashed potatoes. For roughly $15 I rate it as a must have at home… By the way, the 2009 vintage in Mendoza was excellent. With little rain in the region (and drip style irrigation) causing higher temps, the malbec grapes got just what they like…
